Alright, now that that's out of the way - Let's begin!

Once you have a picked a cursor from my cursor page, you will need to install it on your blog!  There are three ways to do this, and I will go through them from easiest to hardest!

NOTE: Not all of these methods may work for you! Some themes do not support the code in certain places.

Your first step will be to copy this code:

body, *, a, a:hover { cursor:url(IMG URL), auto; }

This is the base code for each method.  Do not add spaces, delete spaces, etc. Your image location link (IMG URL) is the only thing you'll change about this code. Copy and paste your image url between the (  ) and you will have your full code.  It will look like this:

EXAMPLE:

body, *, a, a:hover { cursor:url(https://38.media.tumblr.com/5017f785ebe84547ed25e8e13eed8f35/tumblr_nh4apq8qSi1tq00zho1_100.png), auto; }

Now, you will want to copy the finished code and paste it in one of three places:

1. The easiest method .  Go to "Customize" or "Edit Theme."  Paste your cursor code in your description box, and then ADD THE FOLLOWING <style></style> around the code.  For Example:

<style>body, *, a, a:hover { cursor:url(IMG URL), auto; }</style>

Click "Update Preview" on the top of your screen, and your cursor should automatically appear in the theme preview on the right side of your screen!

2. The Intermediate method (and my preferred way). Again, go to "Customize" or "Edit Theme."  In the options box on the left side of the screen, scroll ALL the way down to the bottom.  The very last option is "Advanced Options."  Click that and you will see an area that says "Add Custom CSS."  Paste the code in that box (NO <STYLE> NEEDED).  Click "Update Preview" and your cursor should show up in your blog preview window.

If this method does not work, don't panic! You're not alone! I have had a few people have issues with this method, but I prefer this way as you don't clog your description box up with code!

3. The Advanced Method . I say this is advanced, because unless you are familiar with large blocks of html/css coding, this will probably confuse and frustrate you.  (When I first started messing around with html, I was hella frustrated most of the time!)  For this method, you will need to go into the html code for you theme.  Again, go to "Customize"/"Edit Theme" and right at the top, you'll see a button that says "Custom Theme" and under that "Edit HTML." Click on that and you will be directed to your theme's HTML coding.

Don't be overwhelmed!!  You won't have to change anything, just paste the code in a specific place ^_^  If you already have a custom cursor - as in, it came with the theme html, or you have just forgotten how to install a cursor, you may have to do some searching.

Make sure you have your code copied, and then scroll down to <body>.  It will probably be a ways down and it can be easy to miss!  Once you find <body>, paste your cursor code right under it - not above, UNDER.  You will also have to surround the code with <style></style> like with method 1 above.  Click "Update Preview" and your cursor should show up in your preview window!

If you have tried all three methods and are still having issues:

  1. Make sure you don't already have a custom cursor.  If it's not the standard black or white (depending on whether you have Mac or PC), it's custom.  If you already have a custom cursor, you will have to find it's code and replace the image url or entire code!  It will most likely be UNDER <body> in your theme's HTML code.
  2. Don't resize the cursors!  They all work as is, but make them any bigger and tumblr will not show them.  I think the max size is 120 x 120 (or somewhere around there).
  3. Double check that you didn't accidentally make changes to the code, that the image url is accurate AND make sure you have added <style></style> if it is needed.
  4. If all else fails, feel free to message me, but beyond the advice stated above, I don't know how much help I'll be ^^'

I hope you enjoy my cursors!
